Following Auckland Council’s internal design and consenting of a new concrete pathway upgrade at Walter Massey Park, Frame Group was engaged to review and optimise the design and support delivery across multiple stages of the project. The works form part of a wider sports field redevelopment within a high-use community park.
Frame Group reviewed and refined the original pathway alignment across three stages, resolving issues related to tree root protection, drainage performance and concrete specification. The design approach focused on durability under heavy foot traffic, maintaining overland flow paths, and working safely within the driplines of protected trees using arborist-supervised methodologies.
The project was delivered through two parallel construction contracts alongside ongoing sports field upgrades and continued community use of the park. Frame Group provided detailed design, construction monitoring and contract management services, coordinating closely with Auckland Council and contractors to minimise disruption while delivering a robust, long-life pathway asset.
