Detailed Design and Engineering
Frame Group was engaged to design the replacement of two ageing pedestrian bridges in the lush native bush of the Waitākere Ranges. As part of Auckland Council’s renewal programme, the new designs were developed with a strong focus on sustainability, iwi values and minimal environmental impact.
One bridge features timber poles as the primary span, while the other utilises glulam beams. Both structures are supported on screw piles rather than conventional concrete foundations, allowing for future removal and full site restoration. This approach was chosen in recognition of mana whenua aspirations to return the landscape to its natural state over time.
The project reflects Frame Group’s ability to combine technical design with cultural and environmental sensitivity in ecologically important locations.
