Detailed Design and Engineering
Frame Group was engaged to design a safer and more accessible beach access track at Rawhiti, forming the gateway to the renowned Cape Brett Track. The upgrade replaced makeshift, community-installed steps with a durable and cost-effective solution, including boxed timber steps and a concrete path laid over exposed rock down to the beach.
The design also considered unique cultural needs, with a nearby urupā (cemetery) requiring the track to accommodate the safe carrying of coffins during tangihanga. This smaller-scale project is a good example of how thoughtful design can improve both usability and cultural sensitivity in remote, rural environments.
