Asset Assessments
For more than 20 years, Frame Group has supported the Department of Conservation with ongoing asset assessments along the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk in Te Urewera. This long-term involvement has provided continuity and deep understanding of the condition, performance and maintenance needs of visitor infrastructure in one of Aotearoa’s most remote Great Walk environments.
Frame Group’s scope has included condition assessments of suspension bridges, swing bridges, staircases and associated access structures, as well as inspections of serviced huts along the track. The assessments form part of DOC’s regular asset management cycles and provide consistent, comparable information to guide maintenance, renewal and compliance decisions over time.
All inspections are undertaken in a challenging remote setting, with access to sites on foot and under demanding environmental conditions. Frame Group provides practical engineering advice on compliance and maintenance priorities, supporting safe, reliable visitor access while respecting the cultural and natural values of Te Urewera.
