Frame Group was engaged to design and deliver a replacement jetty for Kaimoana Reserve, where the original timber structure had deteriorated beyond repair. Initial options explored a viewing platform alternative, but feedback from the community and local board strongly favoured retaining the jetty for recreational use and improving accessibility.
The final solution involved the design and construction of a new 25m jetty, incorporating integrated concrete pathways for all-abilities access, erosion control, and better connection to the existing platform. The work also included a 20m rock revetment to protect the shoreline and a new timber jetty structure installed over the coastal marine area.
The project required sensitive construction methods due to tidal constraints, bird nesting windows, and site-specific cultural and ecological values. Working closely with iwi and Auckland Council, Frame Group coordinated stakeholder engagement and managed the consent process to ensure the project aligned with both community aspirations and environmental standards.
