Totara Park is one of South East Auckland’s most popular urban green spaces. Frame Group was engaged to assess the condition of its extensive track network and guide the delivery of priority upgrades.
Following a detailed assessment of more than 19 tracks, we developed a condition grading system ranging from good to urgent attention required. Funding was allocated for remedial work on four of the most at-risk tracks. This included the installation of a new boardwalk and a glue-laminated bridge to replace a deteriorated structure affected by scour. The new alignment moved bridge supports further from the waterway to increase long-term resilience.
The upgrades have improved safety, accessibility and durability across key areas of the park, supporting a better experience for the many community members who use the space daily.
