Frame Group was engaged by Auckland Council to provide structural design and project manage the construction of a new 40m long art feature pedestrian bridge and approach boardwalk at the Otara Creek Reserve.
The new bridge helps enhance public access to the coastal marine area (CMA), upper Pakuranga Creek and Tamaki Estuary and increase opportunities for informal recreation. In addition, the new bridge helps create linkages between the esplanade reserve land and the surrounding residential communities.
Frame Group worked closely with the artistic designer, Moko-ia Creative House to develop construction details for the manaia posts, decking pattern, coloured tread plates and decking skirt also incorporating coloured plates. Frame Group incorporated these spectacular, but challenging aspects into the final bridge design.
