Frame Group supported Great South and Te Rūnanga o Awarua with early-stage feasibility work to explore a bold new vision for Motupōhue (Bluff Hill), transforming the iconic Southland site into a nationally significant visitor destination.
The concept, led by iwi and shaped through cultural, environmental and tourism lenses, seeks to reconnect visitors with the deep stories of the whenua while boosting regional development. Frame Group was engaged to assess options and constraints for access, structures and track alignments across the site, helping to shape a feasible and costed pathway toward delivery.
Our work supported the client’s wider business case and funding efforts by identifying key physical, cultural and logistical factors that would influence long-term development. The proposed experience includes a cultural welcome space, upgraded walkways, large scale sculptures, spectacular viewing platforms and integrated storytelling.
