Frame Group worked alongside Man O’ War Vineyards to help deliver the Man O’ War Forest Flight experience, a series of tandem ziplines that offer a unique way to experience the kauri forest canopy and views across the Hauraki Gulf. The project includes three ziplines ranging from 200 m to 350 m in length, linked by a network of walking tracks, boardwalks and timber structures.
Frame Group was engaged to provide detailed design and construction monitoring for the track network and associated timber infrastructure. Works included the formation of a hilltop meeting area with an aggregate pad and low timber boardwalk, 0.75 m and 1.2 m wide aggregate walking tracks, timber kissing gates, and three zipline take-off and landing platforms. The project also incorporated multiple timber boardwalk sections, including a 1.5 m wide wetland boardwalk with a short bridge connecting near the vineyard tasting room.
Given the presence of mature kauri trees, the design placed strong emphasis on Kauri Dieback mitigation. Track alignments, construction methods and materials were carefully selected to reduce soil disturbance and minimise the risk of spreading Phytophthora agathidicida, ensuring the experience could be delivered while protecting the surrounding forest environment.
