Ben Lomond is a prominent mountain overlooking Queenstown, named after Ben Lomond in the Scottish Highlands. The Ben Lomond Track is a popular walking route that provides access from the Queenstown Lakes Gondola to the Ben Lomond Saddle.

Frame Group was engaged by the Department of Conservation to upgrade approximately 3.5 kilometres of the Ben Lomond Track between the gondola top station and the saddle. The works focused on improving track condition, safety and durability in a high-use alpine environment.

The scope included reshaping approximately 2,826 metres of existing track, modifying grades through cut and fill to improve walkability and drainage, and clearing vegetation to form approximately 158 metres of new track. The upgrade also incorporated around 60 metres of timber boxed steps with landings to manage steeper sections and reduce erosion while improving user safety.
