Let's talk about your project

Clevedon Scenic Reserve comprises approximately 100 hectares of native bush, including mature kauri forest, and offers expansive views across the Hunua Ranges and the Hauraki Gulf. The reserve is a valued recreational area with a well-used network of walking tracks and visitor structures.

Frame Group has a long history of working within the Clevedon Scenic Reserve, including the design of a suspension bridge and flying fox in 2008, track upgrades completed in 2006, and earlier extensions to the waterfall viewing platforms in 2004. This ongoing involvement has provided continuity and a strong understanding of the reserve’s terrain, visitor use and maintenance requirements.

Auckland Council engaged Frame Group to design and project manage the upgrade of the Summit Loop Track. The works included resurfacing sections of the Eastern Summit Track with a 0.75 metre wide aggregate track incorporating grade dips, edge boards and new boxed step flights. On the Western Summit Track, upgrades included resurfacing a 1.0 metre wide aggregate track with grade dips, culverts and edge boards, along with the installation of boxed steps and cellular geoweb to improve stability and durability. Additional works included the installation of new staircases and boardwalks, as well as new barriers and handrails on existing structures to improve safety and accessibility.
